Our hospital offers state of the art digital radiology services, allowing our doctors immediate access to your pets X-rays.

X-rays can be taken as part of our Senior Care program to screen for hidden diseases, or can be used as part of the doctor’s diagnostic plan to identify the cause of disease.

X-rays can be focused to one part of the body (e.g. the knee), or involve several portions (e.g. the abdominal cavity). It can also be used to determine the size of a structure or organ (e.g. heart size).

Common problems visible on X-rays: Arthritis, heart disease, lung disease (e.g. pneumonia), liver and spleen disease, bladder and kidney stones, stomach or intestinal foreign bodies, masses/tumors and other forms of cancer.

Ultrasound

Our hospital offers full ultrasound services. We are able to provide minor abdominal ultrasound in our hospital, and also major abdominal and chest ultrasounds with specialists in the area that travel and perform the procedures at our office depending on the circumstances. Ultrasounds and echocardiograms (chest ultrasounds) are an important part of the diagnostic work-up of a sick pet. These are also used on pets that have chronic diseases (e.g. heart disease).

MedRX Vetscope

Our hospital offers MedRX Vetscope to allow real time visualization and treatment of any orifice of the body (e.g. ears, mouth, nose).

Ophthalmology

Tonometry – to measure the intraocular eye pressure of your pet. This tool helps our doctors rule in/out glaucoma, uveitis, and other eye diseases.

Fluorescein stain test – to evaluate the integrity your pets cornea

Schirmer’s tear test – to evaluate and monitor the tear production of each eye

Cardiology

Electrocardiogram (ECG) – to evaluate the heart rate and rhythm. Our doctors use it prior to every anesthesia and recommend it as part of our Senior Care Program. It is also highly recommended to monitor pets with heart disease.

Consultation Services available with specialist in the DFW area.

Blood Pressure (BP) using the doppler system for highly accurate results. Our doctors recommend it as part of our Feline annual exams and as part of our Senior Care Program in dogs and cats. It is also highly recommended to monitor pets with high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, and heart disease.

Laboratory

In House:
Idexx Vet Test – This helps tell us if some of the major organs in the body are affected by a condition.

I-Stat-Quick blood test that allows our doctors access to time-sensitive diagnostic information during critical/unstable/emergency patients.

Cytology- This is examining cells under a microscope where we can take a small amount of tissue, exudates (pus), discharge (ears) and put them on a slide. After staining we can often isolate a problem.

Outside Lab:

Antech Laboratory – This is our outside laboratory partner that can perform more complete chemistries, cbcs, endocrine testing, parasite testing as considered necessary for your pet. Samples are submitted twice daily and most results are back within 24 hours.
